DOCTORS' MENTAL HEALTH AND WELLBEING

PROFESSIONAL support for medical practitioners and medical students in Inner Melbourne
Stefanie recognises the immense and unrelenting pressures associated with a career in medicine, as well as the complex and often entrenched barriers that can make seeking support - and prioritising prevention and early intervention - difficult.
Therapy offers a supportive space to develop more sustainable ways of working over time, without compromising your values or professional standards.
Stefanie provides individualised, evidence-based psychological therapy for doctors and medical students, supporting them to:
-
Manage stress, emotional exhaustion and compassion fatigue, and prevent burnout
-
Address perfectionism and unrelenting standards
-
Navigate complex workplace dynamics and boundaries, including bullying and discrimination
-
Process challenging clinical experiences, including trauma and vicarious trauma
-
Work through moral injury and ethical distress arising from systematic issues
-
Reconnect with meaning, purpose and professional identity

Stefanie's work is grounded in an understanding of medical culture and the pressures associated with training and clinical practice.
She has worked across several major hospitals and has collaborated with both the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists and the Irish College of Psychiatrists on their advanced training programs. Through teaching and supporting Psychiatry Registrars and Consultants, she developed a strong professional interest in working with medical practitioners.
Stefanie has also led the wellbeing support of medical students at a Melbourne clinical school. In this role, she worked closely with medical leadership, was involved in medical student selection and interviews, developed policies related to student selection, wellbeing, suicide prevention, and crisis response, and contributed to cross-institutional research focused on improving inclusivity in medical education. Additionally, she provided mental health support and coaching to medical students in their final years of training.
